On April 4, 2023, Switzerland was awarded the contract to host the UEFA Women's EURO 2025 (WEURO25). The city of Bern is one of the eight host cities. As the venue for three group matches and one final round match, Bern has the opportunity to strengthen its image as an attractive and lively sports and leisure destination among the many visitors from Switzerland and abroad.
Berner Ballzauber in summer 2025
During the tournament, the city of Bern was completely dominated by Women's EURO25 and offered locals and visitors alike an unforgettable and varied programme of sporting (with live broadcasts of the matches), musical and cultural events. Those who could work their magic with the ball made all the difference on the pitch! The name Berner Ballzauber stood for the magical moments and extraordinary skills that make football so fascinating. During Women's EURO25, the entire host city of Bern was enchanted by these wonderful moments.
Lighting the fire
In the run-up to the tournament, the host city of Bern, in collaboration with the organisers of established Bernese events and with its own events and activities, sparked enthusiasm for Women's EURO 25 and for girls' and women's football among the general public.
Organisation
The project organisation of the host city of Bern was set up with co-project management by Hannah Sutter and Marc Heeb, co-head of the municipal police inspectorate, apolitical-strategic steering committee with representatives from the cities of Bern and Thun, the canton of Bern and the federal government, as well as external partner organisations.
